{"id":854,"date":"2015-01-09T10:36:37","date_gmt":"2015-01-09T15:36:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.c3design.ca\/?p=854"},"modified":"2015-02-25T07:48:05","modified_gmt":"2015-02-25T12:48:05","slug":"the-design-process","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.c3design.ca\/?p=854","title":{"rendered":"the design process"},"content":{"rendered":"<pre>1 <strong>Evaluating Design Needs<\/strong> (required if the project is being produced for the first time)\r\n\u2022 consideration of business plan (long and short-term goals) and marketing strategy\r\n\u2022 creative brief (a detailed statement of the communication problem to be solved, and the\r\n  anticipated challenges that will be met in solving it produced via research and interviews)\r\n\r\n2 <strong>Project Planning<\/strong>\r\n\u2022 identify project goals\r\n\u2022 determine scheduling\r\n\u2022 set budget (formal C3 agreement signed-off by client)\r\n\u2022 identify content and visual requirements (project scope)\r\n\u2022 identify production considerations (shipping, mailing, etc)\r\n\r\n3 <strong>Concept Development<\/strong>\r\n\u2022 copy writing and translation (provided by client or contracted by C3)\r\n\u2022 edit copy (C3 can provide editing and plain language services)\r\n\u2022 page flow diagram (multiple page projects)\r\n\u2022 design concept development\/research\r\n\u2022 specifications of: typography, photography, illustration, paper, and printing method\r\n\u2022 design presentation (cover and typical inside page design \u2013 requires sign-off)\r\n\r\n4 <strong>Production<\/strong>\r\n\u2022 prepare printing specifications and obtain print quotes\r\n\u2022 page layout (up to 3 PDF proofs in each language unless otherwise requested)\r\n\u2022 client liaison for proofreading and corrections\r\n\u2022 set of comprehensive PDFs (for final approval\/sign-off)\r\n\u2022 preparation of final printing specifications and artwork files\r\n\r\n5 <strong>Quality Control and Supervision<\/strong>\r\n\u2022 intense internal proofing and cross referencing before files released to printer\r\n\u2022 final approvals of printer proofs done by client in partnership with C3 recommendations\r\n\r\n6 <strong>Invoicing<\/strong>A responsibility exists for both client and designer to define precisely the scope of work.\r\nIf the initial assessment changes because of unforeseen circumstances, the client can expect\r\nto be advised of any fee changes mutually agreed upon.
